Toddler Dinner Meal Ideas

Make fussy eating a thing of the past with these simple recipes that were made to make your toddler finish everything on the plate without being overwhelmed! Kareem is not a fussy eater but he does have some of his favorite meals and on busy days, their my go to!

The classic.. Mac’ n’ cheese! It doesn’t have to come out of a box! You can also add broccoli, cauliflower, carrots or any extra vegetables inside!

If you think healthy eating is about punishing your tastebuds, you haven’t met this cauliflower mac and cheese. It’s a healthier verison of an old favourite that your kids will LOVE!

Butternut squash soup is one of Kareem’s go to meals and it’s super simple to make! Whenever I make a batch of this, I know he’ll finish the bowl..  Plus it stores well!

And…Butternut squash is also a good source of vitamin E, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B-6, folate, pantothenic acid, and manganese. A cup of cubed butternut squash also provides 582 mg of potassium, more than the amount available in a banana. Doesn’t get much better than that.

When you think of kid’s meals butter chicken probably doesn’t come to mind; but rest assured Kareem absolutely loves it and it’s definitely easier when the whole family can eat the same meal! Give this a try, it’s quick to whip up and stores really well. Don’t box in your toddler with simple meals, let them explore what you eat 🙂 Just make sure to keep it on the mild side!

 

Another one of my go to meals is Shepards pie! This is an easy one dish meal that you can make at home or buy and just heat in the oven! It’s a great way to get your toddler to try meat without having to worry about it being too chewy or tough.

If you make a batch, try storing them in these cute mason jars (perfect kid size) and you have lunches and dinner prepped and ready! Their also great if you send your little one to daycare or grandma/grandpa’s house. You can pack these and make meal time easy on your caregiver!

 

 

 

And lastly something fun! I try and make pasta and other meals into fun characters to meal time exciting 🙂 This would be particular handy once your kids are school aged, to keep their lunch boxes, colorful, exciting and wonder bread free.
